Dear Adeline, Christine and family,
Rupert passed on your very sad news of Harry’s death. We feel for you all in your sadness of a promising life cut short and from our memories a laughing happy boy no longer with you.
We often chuckle about the time that Harry came to stay and borrowed Angus’s Student Job card to work over the holidays keeping up the guise of being the kiwi student. We remember how he returned home one evening perplexed that his boss who had told Harry that he grew kiwi fruit on his property at Bombay admitted when Harry asked him that he had only spent one day in India en route to another country. Eventually we realised that the Bombay he was talking about were the hills 20 kms to the south of Auckland and we laughed and laughed. We did enjoy having Harry to celebrate Xmas with us in Taupo at Peter’s brothers holiday house and then got excited when we went to our “2 bedroomed bach” by the sea up north as the pohutukawas were flowering crimson – a sign in NZ of summer and Christmas and they were looking their best for our English visitor.
Our Love and Kind Thoughts to You all,
Rosemary Wakeman XXXXX
